Garmin just released a new software update for the Garmin Drive Track 70 (Version 5.60). This update added two new dog tracking features as well as improved upon two other existing GPS navigation features. Below is a detailed released notes.

I had a very memorable hunt with my 14 year old son, Hunter recently. Pheasants Forever conducts a youth hunt annually to keep the sport alive and in front of our youth. Tim Rowan the Youth coordinator for this specific hunt takes great pride in his chapter North Central PA Chapter 630. Everyone was very welcoming and hospitable. When we arrived there was a booth with free food and beverages, a beautiful pheasant trailer where a volunteer taught your children how to properly clean their harvest, and each hunt was kicked off with a briefing by Tim around safety and respect for the dogs and their owners.

Garmin just released a new software update for the Garmin DriveTrack 70 LMT. This update was to address some pairing issues that the DriveTrack 70 was having pairing with the Astro 320, Astro 430, and the Alpha 100 heldhelds. Software Version 5.50 Live as of October 23, 2017.

The new T5 mini has a smaller physical size as you can see compared to the original T5. The collar strap can fit down to a 9.5 inch neck. It has a lighter weight at 7 ounces. compared to 9 ounces with the original T5 collar. It also has a sleep mode, which allows you to shut the collar on and off from the hand held, allowing you to conserve battery life. You can also turn the beacon lights on and off from the hand held.

I was lucky to get a chance to field test the new Garmin Tri-Tronics PRO 70 on a few of my beagles. I was very impressed with the feel of the transmitter which is very simple to the G3 Classic I have used for years. The toggle switch which changes the button setup has the collar colors shown opposed to a circle and a dot, which in my opinion is easier to tell what collars you are transmitting to. The PRO 70 also comes with a bark limiter, this alone is one feature that I have always wished someone added onto one of the training systems.

The PRO Trashbreaker is now the longest range remote collar with an unprecedented 4 mile line of sight range. Using the Garmin Alpha 100 we found this unbelievable claim to be true although we did our test in the field without line of sight. The PRO Trashbreaker works off of a different radio signal from previous Trashbreaker units.
