At the Bird Dog days Customer Appreciation Event Dr. Bob Rider gave a great session on sporting dog first aid, and the information proved to be so valuable that we decided to publish it into several blog posts for other dog owners to learn from. Our first blog post was about treatment of dog wounds, cuts, motion sickness and digestion issues. In this blog post the topic is the treatment of bee stings and venomous snake bites.

The Lion Country Supply Bird Dog Days event earlier this month was a great success with plenty of information shared by the professionals. And I personally thought the sporting dog first aid session given by Dr. Bob Rider of the Metzger Animal Hospital was invaluable to me as a dog owner. Dr. Rider shared information that would take any dog owner plenty of research and time to obtain, but he made information gathering a lot easier for those of us who were at the event. Also it's reassuring to hear it directly from a veterinarian associated with one of the most experienced animal hospitals in Pennsylvania.

Lion Country Supply would like to thank everyone who attended the Bird Dog Days Customer Appreciation Event held on Saturday 19th, 2015. Not only did we have a great visitor turnout but we also had a great turnout from several gundog product manufacturers and dog experts. This was my first Bird Dog Days event, and what a learning event it was with good questions asked and lots of useful information shared by the experts.

I can quickly see ways that being connected to the internet constantly via smarty pants phones in our pockets are detriment to life. My smarty pants phone is constantly vibrating, emitting sounds like a pinball machine, and flashing like a video arcade (Yes, I just referenced two modes of entertainment that are pass?). I call it a smarty pants phone because it always seems to give me more trouble than smart service. The distraction of the arcade is now perpetually by my side, unless I forget it at home. I NEVER leave it at home on purpose--ask my wife, Renee, I have told her that it is always a mistake caused by leaving the house too quickly. I wouldn't want to leave that ruckus at home. Actually, most of my phone's gyrations are caused by communication from Renee. She has found a way to send me text messages from her desktop computer at work, using all of her typing skills, not just her thumbs. This is problematic, as I wasn't able to keep up with her texts when she was just using her phone. Now she has the Gatlin Gun of texting, and my replies are limited to my bulky thumbs?a muzzle loader by comparison. By the time I answer her text that read, "an u buy milk?" with a response that says, -I already did," she has already sent me 312 additional texts, with the most recent reading, "o not forget to pick up Wes." Wesley is our son. Now she thinks I am saying I already picked up the kid, when in fact I have already bought milk because I needed it for coffee. So she sends a follow up text asking why I already picked up Wes, since he should not get picked up for several hours. The Gatlin Gun erupts and I turn off my muzzleloader and hunker down.

The safety of my dogs is my primary concern when hunting. My goals on any hunt, in order of importance, are as follows: Everyone (people and dogs) safe and healthy at the end of the day, the beagles get a good chase, and rabbits get put in the game vest. If you are on this website, then you are a dog guy like me. There are plenty of people in the field, however, who are not. Let me relate a scary narrative for you.

The new T5 mini has a smaller physical size as you can see compared to the original T5. The collar strap can fit down to a 9.5 inch neck. It has a lighter weight at 7 ounces. compared to 9 ounces with the original T5 collar. By: Rev. Bob Ford I stop by Lion Country Supply with some regularity. I like to browse through the shotguns and the guys always know a rabbit hunter when we come through the doors. We are the only customers that shoulder a shotgun and point it at the ground!

On hot summer days dogs will run themselves to exhaustion if allowed, so it's crucial that dog owners understand the effect of heat on dogs, and owners must also understand how to treat the dog when he becomes overheated.
