Tuf-Foot is specially formulated using a mixture of herbs and balsams that aboriginal tribes used on their own feet. This concoction works to condition your dog’s paws to help prevent injuries, like blisters and cut pads. For over 70 years, Tuf-Foot has been recommended by industry experts and veterinarians.
The benefits of Tuf-Foot are not limited to your canine friend, but can also be used on humans as well. It is great for aiding in the healing of blisters and tears on the feet. Slather a layer of Tuf-Foot on the soles of your feet in preparation for hiking, marching, or adventure racing to prevent sores. When applying, use the same application method and schedule as you would when applying it to your dog’s paws.
How to Use and Apply Tuf-Foot
To properly apply Tuf-Foot, apply the product to a cotton ball or swab and rub on the desired area. When using the product prior to an event, we suggest daily applications to the paws. Afterwards, apply twice per week to maintain the paws toughness. Tuf-Foot can also be used to heal sores and blisters of the foot by applying daily until the affected area is healed, then resume a twice per week application schedule.
Staff Tip: This product will stain fabrics and carpet if not allowed to dry first. Tuf-Foot will stain a rich amber color. We suggest waiting 10-20 seconds for the product to dry before allowing the applied area to touch anything.
Active Ingredients in Tuf-Foot
Peru Balsams is a solution of plant resins in plant-specific solvents (essential oils). Balsams work as a topical application to heal wounds and rejuvenate dry skin.
Tolu Balsams is also a plant sap-like substance that comes from the Myroxlyon balsamum tree. Tolu has properties that help treat cracked pads, sores, minor cuts, and even some skin parasites.
Styrax Benzion Resin is from an evergreen tree native to Sumatra in Indonesia. Stryax Benzion Resin provides antiseptic, anti-flammatory, and astringent properties. Its benefits include: improves skin’s elasticity and smooths the skin, soothes dry and inflamed skin, accelerates healing of wounds and sores, and stimulates blood circulation and eases muscle pain.
Aloe Vera comes from a cactus-like plant and contains antioxidants, enzymes, Vitamins A and C, and is highly anti-flammatory. Aloe Vera also helps hydrate and lock in moisture.
Conclusion
Tuf-Foot by the Bonaseptic Company is a great product to always have on hand. It works great for repairing damaged pads and is the best product available for conditioning pads to prevent injuries. Several members of our staff use this product the entire length of both hunting and trialing season.

I was a K9 handler for 7 years. There were occasions when we had to be on hot asphalt or gravel, ice etc and that can injure pads. The vet said Copper Tox would help but it is nasty! I found Tuf-Foot for hunting dogs and tried it. It made the pads tough but soft and prevented cracking. I found it can be used by people too and use it myself. Blisters and cracked calluses went away. After K9 I was/ am a SWAT sniper. It works on hands, knees and elbows too! Great stuff.
