Lion Country Supply - Garmin Delta Sport

    The Garmin Delta Sport

Jim from Shipping here and I wanted to let you all know what I thought of the Garmin Delta Sport w/ BarkLimiter. As most of you know I have an English Setter Ranger who is 9 months old. I began using the Garmin Delta Sport when he was about 6 months old. I bring him to work with me every day and this piece of equipment is a vital part of my day. When returning from a trip outside I like to bring him in through the store as the Customers always like to see the dogs we have here. I had trouble with him jumping up when he was meeting someone and the Delta solved that problem right away. I also use it when training Ranger to hunt Sheds. What I like about the system is that it has a small transmitter with a rubber grip that makes it easy to hold and reduces the chance to drop it. It also has a lanyard with it and when you hang it around your neck it doesn't have an uncomfortable weight and rub when close to bare skin. The unit has 5 training modes that allow you to customize your training program. Speaking of the buttons, they are big enough that you can feel and operate them when the unit is inside a pocket. Most of the time I have the transmitter in my pocket and you cannot even tell I am using it. What I like is the collar is relatively small and does not interfere a bit with the daily Day-Glo collar he has on with this tags. It is very lightweight and Ranger doesn't scratch or shake out from discomfort at all. I usually use a tone, momentary, continuous program, but I like that I can switch to a tone, vibrate, momentary program in just seconds. It depends on how the pup is feeling that day. The tone and vibrate usually does the trick and very seldom do I need to correct him. The range on the unit is great too. Ranger usually likes to run and I have had no communications problems when I had to get him back in close. The range is plenty enough at - mile. Charging is easy and I can do it from a wall outlet or what I also do is plug it in at work to my computer for a quick re-charge which take about 2 hours from a dead battery and I usually get about 4 days out of one charge. Overall I think that the Delta Sport is a great training unit and coupled with the bark limiter feature it is worth every penny and I do not know what I would do without it.
