Nick Mellon


Nick Mellon has been as professional pointing dog trainer for 25 years. Nick is a gold level trainer with the Huntsmith team and a senior judge for the AKC hunt tests and field trails. Nick runs his family business with his wife, Valerie, training out of their summer training facility in Murrysville Pa (Hypointe Kennels) and winter facility in South Carolina (Railway Kennels).


Achievements Include:

  • Dare, 59th dual champion Gordon Setter.
  • Wheels, Brittany. Amateur Field Champion, National Amateur Gun Dog Champion.
  • Red, Brittany. Amateur Field champion, Open field Champion.
  • Lefty, English setter. Three time open cover dog Champion ABHA.
  • Charlie, Setter Female. Open puppy of the year2014, US Complete.
  • Many AKC Master Hunters and personal hunting dogs of all pointing breeds.




Missy Lemoi


Missy has been training dogs since 1992, when she trained her yellow lab to compete in AKC hunt tests and AKC obedience trials. Missy trains all of her dogs to a high standard enabling them to achieve recognition for their many accomplishments. Missy now runs Hope Lock Kennels specializing in dog obedience.


Achievements Include:

  • Rufus, Yellow Lab. Companion Dog title, Master Hunting and qualified for the Master National in 2000.
  • Max, Chocolate Lab. Companion Dog, Junior Hunter title, and went on to become certified Search and Rescue Dog as part of a FEMA team.
  • Hawkeye. Master National Hunter, competing in Master Nationals in 2003, 2004, and 2009, earning a spot in the Hall of Fame. Also was Qualified All Age in AKC Field Trials, certified therapy dog, and appeared on television commercials and played in Cesar Millan's "The Dog Whisperer".
  • Tex, Black Lab. Master National Hunter, competing in Master Nationals in 2012, 2013, and 2014 earning his spot in the Master National's Hall of Fame. Tex also is Qualified All Age and has placed in the Amateur stake in AKC field Trails. He is a certified therapy dog and the main demo dog for obedience classes.
  • Colt, Hawkeye's son. was a Master Hunter and won the last Qualifying stake he ran earning his Qualified All Age designation in AKC field trials. Colt qualified for two Master Nationals and passed the Master National in 2013. He was a certified therapy dog and did some search and rescue work.
  • Rody, Tex's son. is just beginning his field training and will compete in both field trials and hunt tests starting in 2015. He earned his Canine Good Citizenship and Therapy Dog certifications when he was just a few days past the age of 1.




Dr. Fred Metzger


Dr. Fred Metzger received his B.S. with high distinction in Animal Bioscience, from Penn State University in 1981 and graduated with honors from the Purdue College of Veterinary Medicine in 1986.
Dr. Metzger currently serves as an adjunct professor at Penn State University and helps teach several classes. In addition, he frequently lectures to fellow veterinarians nationally and internationally lecturing on various topics, including clinical pathology, internal medicine and geriatric medicine.
He has presented seminars in 45 different countries including Australia, Russia, Israel, Romania, South Africa, Brazil and many others. He has authored numerous publications including co-authoring a textbook "A Guide to Hematology of the Dog and Cat".
