Amy Gauthier, the LCS Summer 13 Contest Winner

In 2003 my husband and I adopted our first dog, a 3 year old Australian Cattle Dog we named Katie. That same year we adopted a 2 year old English Setter Marty. Training Marty was my start within the bird dog training world, so 2003 was when I purchased my first item from Lion Country Supply, a tangle free check cord. I then went on to get an Irish Setter pup, Augie, who I trained for NAVHDA hunt tests. In 2008 he became the first Irish Setter ever to become a NAVHDA Versatile Champion. I also later purchased a female Irish Setter pup, Anya, who I tested for Natural Ability in NAVHDA. We then had one litter out of her and Augie, and I kept one male pup from that litter, Gauge. He was also tested for natural ability. My husband and I love to hunt, and live in excellent pheasant country in Minnesota. So, besides being house companions, our dogs see a lot of action on wild birds. My dogs and I have also hunted sharp tail grouse and prairie chickens in Nebraska. Augie and I do a little water fowl hunting as well, since he loves retrieving from the water! I recently left my full time job to start a small dog grooming business and have sacrificed a higher income to plunge into following that dream. I am therefore very grateful to have won this contest to help me afford supplies to continue the bird dog training activities that I love! Thank you Lion Country Supply!
