The LCS Bird Dog Armor Vest is built to protect your dog from harsh brush in the upland field, while increasing his visibility for safety. It has blaze orange rip-stop nylon fabric from the dog’s shoulder to the loin with reflective strips. The nylon is constructed with elastic stretch gussets on both sides to allow freedom of movement while keeping a close fit. Nylon adjustable straps across the back create an easy-to-size vest and the quick-clips make putting it on or taking it off a snap. The black 600 denier Cordura nylon brush guard is made to stop difficult undergrowth and briars by covering the entire chest and brisket. One of the least expensive, yet toughest constructed upland dog vests on the market, backed by 30 years of LCS field testing.
Available in sizes small, medium, and large.
Small fits dogs 30-45 lbs.
Medium fits dogs 45-65 lbs. Large fits dogs 65+ lbs.
In response to the product review "Somewhat disappointed - Based on the current description, the vest may have been upgraded..."
The goal is to have the vest take the damage instead of the dog.

This is a great overall product. My only complaint with it is that it tore after only 3 times out. Granted my GSP is pretty tough on equipment, but I didnt expect it to tear so easily. If your dog is not busting through the woods and rough cover this is a great product.

Awesome for the Price
I bought this for my GSP after she took a few briars to her belly during some tougher grouse hunts. This vest has great coverage and the side panels with reflective patches make it very easy to see in the grouse woods. I will be buying these for all the dogs. Awesome for the price.
I mainly bought for those days when you want your dog to be seen by others--we all have those friends. After three days of hunting in high snow in a row Fritzs chest was getting pretty raw. Had vest on even while hunting solo and as the dog was only a year old he ran across a drift taking barb wire at full speed. I ran over expecting the worse as he had rolled spectacularly three times. The only damage is a small tear in the outer layer mid chest making a great memory/story piece. Ive seen similar incidents result in the emptying a staple gun. He will never hunt without again, Just ordered three more!

Works great and easy to see
This vest has a ton of adjustment and easy to customize for your dog. It fits my GSP perfectly, does a great job protecting him absolutely no chafing and makes a dark colored dog light up in the field. I absolutely recommend it.

My dogs vest is getting to look pretty ragged. I got it for Christmas last year. He cant go w/out it. He would be half hairless. He knows itll be a fun day when I pull it out.

Small improvement requested
The sides of the vest fall under the straps after it is worn for a few minutes. This could be eliminated by having the straps pass through a loop at the top of the vest sides. When the sides fall down you loose a lot of protection plus the comfort is compromised.

I used this vest on my GSP in Yuma AZ during Pheasant season yes there iare wild pheasants here and could not be happier. From crops and tall grass all the way to the desert landscape on the USA/Mexico border, this vest kept my dog free of cuts and scrapes.

I got this for my chocolate lab,not only can you see her where ever she goes, it also holds up against tough thorn bushes. One great buy.
Purchased this item for my Weim. The dog doesnt even seem to know hes wearing it and in addition to offering some protection to his underside this vest provides great visibility in the field
Bird Dog Vest
I have tried a few different dog vests and this one seems to work the best for my English Setter. The leg openings get shredded by briars and I have bought a few of these. But I have not been able to find one that I like better. I wish it was made in USA instead of China.

Based on the current description, the vest may have been upgraded from the two I bought. So, this review may not reflect the current item. I was impressed with the quality initially, but disappointed after using. Now to be honest, I hunt some very rough areas....lots of briars. The skid plate has held up great. But the vest has shown lots of wear, tearing, and unravelling seams. I found it very difficult to get a good fit on my Brittany. I tried 2 different sizes, one was too tight the other too loose. The only adjustments were the 3 top straps, but the vest still balooned between straps. The balloons alowed debris to enter and collect on the bottom on the skid plate. I have to continually stop and remove the vest and empty the debris to keep my dog comfortable and free from abrasions. I would accept the wear given our hunting conditions if only I could get a better fit. Nevertheless, I wouldnt hesitate to order from LCS....thay are great to do business with.

LCS Bird Dog Armor Vest
My Labs cant wait to get their vests on. They are on their second set, the first lasted three years. These dogs will not slow down in any terrain. The alpha has flushed and taken many a bird in flight. The design is not restrictive. The omega literally shredded the first vest, but this is a dog that would drop in his tracks, if it were up to him. I can not believe how the vest have lasted, from what the boys do to them and wash after wash.
Ran my GSP pup today after purchasing this best on Friday. Im very pleased with my purchase and even in the unseasonably warm weather he didnt really sweat at all in it.

This is one tough vest. It is virtually indestructible. The straps are easy to adjust and this vest is easy to clean up after the mud.

The little Brittany launched herself into the air to jump the ditch. Like a slingshot I saw her, what seemed to be in slow motion, hit the old strand of barbed wire and fly thru the air five foot backwards. $129 Vet bill, and I was lucky to stop the bleeding in the field. I bought this vest the next day. I dont know if it will stop barbed wire but it has blunted briars and blackberry thickets for two long seasons. A good buy!

No better tummy type vest
I have use many brands of tummy protector vest and these are by far my favorite. For thin haired pointers these offer great protection against the abrasive grasses of the mid-west pheasant fields.
