Will I get exactly 7 miles of range with the TEK series system?
The range will vary according to terrain, weather, vegetation and transmission from other devices. For consistent range results, hold the handheld in a vertical position away from your body and above your head.
Can I program my TEK to work with any other SportDOG brand collars?
No. The TEK is not compatible with any other current SportDOG collars on the market.
Can I add maps to the TEK system?
Maps cannot be added to the TEK 1.0.
Do I need to calibrate the compass when I change locations?
Yes, for best results it is recommended that the compass be recalibrated after you arrive at a new location.
Will the TEK 1.0 locate train interfere with my CB radio?
No, it will not interfere with your CB.
How long will the battery last?
The rechargeable battery should last 3-5 years. Each charge should last 20 hours.
I love how easy this unit is to use. But Im not sure why the distances seem so off. Sometimes it will tell me my dog is 300 yards in front of me when shes about 25 feet and other times shes way down the road and it says shes only 7 yards in front. Direction is correct, so I guess if I just keep following the arrow, Ill find her eventually.
Great for experienced and novice alike!
Easy to set up and easy to use. Had my ES run off twice before getting this. Now, I always know where she is. Stimulation is never needed above level 1.
By using the locator, it eliminates the need for a beeper, making for much nicer, quieter hunts. Hunting the thick Maine woods, a dog can disappear only yards into cover! With the beeper, she always sounded like a garbage truck backing up. This system allows her to get close to those skittish birds that flush at the slightest sound.
If you are contemplating getting a Tracker/Trainer, this is the one! And Lion Country offered GREAT service!
Would I get another one? No need, this system is fully expandable!

Got to love it
This unit is so easy to use. It has a great clear track screen. My daughter like mine so much that we got her a setup for her dog.

SportDog Tek 1.0
With over 40 years experience training and hunting Llewellin setters, I can truly say. This is one of the best aids I have ever owned. With deminished hearing, it is great not having to worry about detecting sound to locate my dogs. It is also great for those late season hunt, when birds are jumpy and flush at the sound of a locater. In thick grouse and woodcock cover it is the best thing going.
