A good idea for bird dog enthusiasts is to carry along in the field a bottle of sterile eye wash. LCSs sterile eye wash is perfect for the job. The 4 oz. bottle with handy spout fits easily into any small pocket and the flow is controlled by a gentle squeeze of the bottle.
Although any cover wheat stubble, broom grass can infiltrate a dogs eyes, I guide frequently at a local pheasant preserve when a lot of the cover is rougher which is especially hard on the dogs eyes. Ill apply eye wash at least once during the hunt and always after. The solution does not irritate the dogs eyes, there is no temporary loss of vision, and Im always amazed at the amount of crap that washes out. This helps prevent more serious problems such as infection that may occur down the road.
