The Dogtra 1900NCP is a powerful entry-level remote trainer with a ½ mile range that is suitable for both mild-mannered and the most stubborn of dogs. It is designed for pet, K-9, and sport dog training where high output stimulation is necessary. The rheostat dial allows for a gradual adjustment in stimulation, providing up to 127 different levels. The 1900NCP offers nick, constant, and non-stimulating pager/vibration options.Nick is a momentary burst of pre-measured stimulation; constant gives electrical stimulation for as long as you hold the button down (eight seconds max); and page causes the collar to vibrate for non-electrical stimulation.
The easy to read LCD screen displays the exact level of stimulation and a three bar battery life indicator that can even be seen in the dark.
The transmitter and receiver are fully waterproof and utilize rechargeable, user replaceable Ni-MH batteries.

I have been using the 1900NCP for one year. It has been effective in training my Airedale/Cur cross to not chase my chickens and goats. Although the system is rated for 1/2 mile, my experience is that the effective range is much less than that. For example, when my dog is in her kennel surrounded by wire mesh, the system will not operate consistently at 100 feet. Apparently, the wire mesh interferes with the radio signal. When she is running loose in a 4 acre wooded area, the effective range may be 100 yards. I have not tried the system in an open field where the clear line-of-sight is the rated 1/2 mile. If and when I buy another system, I will look for one with more effective range.
