DT Systems BL 509 Quail/Pigeon Launcher takes safety and innovation to the next level. Load your birds with confidence, as you lower the spring arms and net into the basket, then open a trap door on the side of the basket and slide the bird into the net. The trap door also gives you the option of removing and saving unlaunched birds instead of launching them. Training birds are expensive and the trap door method reduces escapes when loading. The safety latch allows you to load the launcher at home and transport to the field without worrying about having it go off during transport. The quiet launch keeps from spooking the dog when you release the bird with the easy-to-operate transmitter. The transmitter can control up to 16 launchers with a 700 yard range. The receiver has push button on/off and a beeper locator feature. The transmitter and receiver both operate on standard 9V batteries, which are not included.
I have had 3 of these launchers for several years. The easy loading door feature is definately one of the strong points for this model. These launchers are also user-friendly when it comes to adding additional launchers to the same transmitter. The weak point came when I bought the last of my set of 3. DT had changed from a push button ON/OFF to a magnetic ON/OFF. This launcher is difficult for me to turn on and off and reset to this day because of the precision that is needed to line up the magnets between the transmitter and receiver. However, the description on this LCS website describes a push button ON/OFF, so maybe DT received enough complaints about this and went back to the push button. All in all they have worked well for training.
